From Theory to Practice; Field Visit 2024 – Department of Accountancy
The Department of Accountancy together with the Circle of Accounting organized a one-day field visit on the 06th of December 2024, for 3000-level Accountancy students of the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Ruhuna. The primary objective of the visit was to get practical knowledge related to the operation of an organization, especially in the management accounting area and sustainability development practices, after the theoretical study of two semesters as an accountancy specialized student. The 145 students along with 04 staff members visited Brandix Apparel Solutions (Pvt) Ltd – Koggala, which is a part of the leading apparel manufacturing firm in the country. The other destination was Insee Cement – Galle, Sri Lanka's only fully integrated cement manufacturer, which is committed to minimizing environmental impact through research, sustainable construction practices, and strategic investment in technology.
The company and its production facilities were examined by the students, who also had hands-on experience with the production function, management accounting concepts, and sustainability techniques used by the organizations. The excursion was a huge success and gave the students a great chance to apply what they had learned in class to actual situations.
